Gigantic Super Robot Mazinger Z is up for $20,400

mazingerz.jpg
Giant robots look cool in animated series on TV only. But if you insist on placing one in your den then Bandai has come up with an irresistible offer for all robo-buffs. The Japanese toy company Bandai is all set to take wraps off a 60-centimeter-tall version of the popular combat robot Mazinger Z. Popularly known as Tranzor Z, this figure made of Titanium and advanced carbon materials. Though this toy may not loom over in size, it certainly carries a gigantic price tag of 2-million-yen (US$20,400). Scaled at 1/30 of the original, it marks the 35th anniversary of Bandai’s Chogokin line of toys.

Review - Labrador Noir’s Luxury Sleepover Kit for girls

luxury_sleepover_kiy-thumb-450x370.jpg
Nothing can beat the innocent look of a sleeping child who is snuggled up in the lap or arms of the mother. How about adding a dash of luxury to this innocence by wrapping up your angel in Labrador Noir’s Luxury Sleepover Kit? ‘Oohhhs’ and ‘Aahhhs’ was all that I uttered as I unpacked this all-white-and-pink Girl’s Sleepover Kit. It is so white that I was a bit nervous to handle it without staining the untainted white stuff included in the kit. The maker, Labrador Noir, specializes in making this luxurious and exclusive Sleepover Kit for girls and boys too. Since the bundle that I received sported a pink and white combination, it goes without saying that it is meant for fairy-like young girls. Let me start with the kit bag first – it is half pink-half white cotton embroidered that can be slung over the shoulder with a zippered handle as a backpack. Inside I found a deluxe100% cotton white soft towel and a white soft cotton flannel that sported a logo embroidered at one corner in pretty pink. The eye-catching wash bag comes with the same logo on one side. I also found symbols of toiletries (soap, toot-brush, paste and more) embroidered on the other side. You can stuff in wipes and lotions too. And lastly a pair of white with pink trimming soft cotton pyjamas to dress up your doll for a blissful sleep even when away from home! It is designed with a pretty scallop collar, frilled cuffs and hems. The Labrador Noir logo stands out in pale pink on the breast pocket and ankle. Made of soft 100% cotton, it has an elasticated waist that will fit comfortably. They are machine washable too!
DSC05825-thumb-450x337.jpg
For £145 ($200), it is definitely not meant for every little girl out there. Only people with deep, secure pockets or those unaffected by the falling economic times can bundle up the joy of their life in Labrador Noir’s Luxury Sleepover Kit.

Sleek new carbon fiber Ying Yang Coffee Table up for grabs

1-carbon-fiber-ying-yang-coffee-table.jpg
Batt from Sweden makes some rather extraordinary and unique items from carbon fiber pre-pregs there. He is known for building custom racing yachts for the America’s Cup and Volvo Ocean Race and he has been quite good at it for the last 22 years. He’s gained a lot of knowledge of materials from there and being a creative soul, he has merged his two talents to make one-off pieces in carbon fiber through his company BCL. One of his finest works is the Ying Yang Coffee Table. This table has a carbon fiber laminated top and it is constructed from MDF. The stylish ying yang logo is made with uni directional fibers at different orientations to reflect the light differently. Also, here you will find 200 grams worth of carbon fiber woven cloth. The frame looks sturdy and sleek and it’s made from steel. This hand-made carbon fiber Ying Yang Coffee Table starts at a price of $700 on eBay and it’ll take an extra 200 for shipping to the US.

Self Propelled Suitcase: The first of its kind to be released

self-propelled-suitcase1.jpg
Traveling gets tiresome inevitably even since we can’t cut down on our luggage and neither can we employ a chauffeur to help us out with the work. With the arrival of the self propelled suitcase, you don’t need to do either of the above. The self propelled luggage automatically provides power assistance when you encounter inclines or are straining to roll the luggage. The handle motors are equipped with sensors which detect how much force you are using to pull the luggage and signal to electric motors in the wheels to aid your struggle, propelling the suitcase up to 3Mph.
All it requires is a 5 hour charge and it is ready to go for up to 2.25 hours. The convenience costs you $1,300, which is worth it and way lesser than those useless old trunks that are heavy as hell!

Play-n-Dine with style on the Ping-Pong Dining table

pingpongtable.jpg
Using the dining table as your after-lunch game table with your siblings isn’t a new concept. Just that it is redefined and restructured with the Ping-Pong Dining Table that is designed to serve both as a Dining table and a Ping-Pong table. The hand-lathered Timber table features French Rococo patterns interjected with Ping-Pong Iconography filled with Gold lacquer. The long rectangular vase filled with dainty blossoms in the middle works both as a game-net and a table-floral arrangement.
pingpongtable_1.jpg
The Ping-Pong dining table reinstates grandeur and pomp with neo-classical inspired embellishments and high tech marble-like Corian. Designer Hunn Wai has collaborated with Mein Gallery, that is responsible for showcasing works of young and upcoming designers.

Wealthy Kuwait Shekh gets himself a Gold Bugatti Veyron

gold_bugatti_veyron.jpg
I just hate it when cars are given a golden makeover (example: The gold-mirror finish Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG). The beautiful cars lose their charm and end up looking like tacky ‘bling bling’ objects. So when I heard that another car has been given a ‘bling’ makeover, I was expecting the same tacky result. But I was definitely in for a shock. This time the victim was a beautiful Bugatti Veyron and the result is spectacular. I can’t believe I am saying this, but one look at this beauty and you will definitely be bowled over. Anything but tacky, the car is a class apart. The unique color combination of golden with tan gives this car a subtle yet classy appearance. This exquisite beauty that exudes opulence belongs to a wealthy guy (if he could afford the $1.75 million Bugatti Veyron he is definitely not short of cash) in Kuwait who loves to paint the town ‘golden’ in this beauty. The car gets treated to the occasional $10,000 detail job and is stored in a climate-controlled atmospheric chamber inside the garage. A jewel, it definitely deserves all the pampering.

Eco friendly gold from San Diego Jewelry Buyers

goldbars.jpg
You will think that with all the efforts to go green, people are becoming a tad bit smarter, but they are also getting a little too weird. San Diego Jewelry Buyers has joined hands with award-winning designer Timothy Meier to provide an eco-friendly, green fine jewelry to the city’s residents. So if you are living in the vicinity, what you can do is, take some of the gold you possess, go to the SDJB shop exchange it for cash. The shop then refines the jewelry, mints it into one ounce of ‘eco-friendly’ gold bars which will then be converted into some fine jewelry, which obviously means that the prices will increase considering all the efforts that has gone into it. Selfish world.

The company’s founder and co-owner Carl Blackburn says that this is a way for the residents of the city to feel like they are doing something good for the nature and feel proud of the gold that they wear. The idea is not at all appealing, it just seems to be some sort of new gimmick to get more money.

World’s largest electric powered Newton truck to be released

smithelectric.jpg
Not just cars, even big trucks now. Going green, I mean. UK-based Smith Electric Vehicles is going to make the world’s largest battery-electric-powered truck at a new plant in Kansas City, Missouri. The truck called Newton will be able to cruise at a top speed of 50mph, carry up to eight tons in weight and go on for up to 150 miles on a single charge. It will have a wheelbase of 3.9 meters and a turning radius of 14.15 meters.

The Newton comes in different styles according to how you may like it and the best thing about this giant is that you can refrigerate it! Can’t figure that out but the manufacturers say it is ‘perfectly suited for depot-based fleets, engaged in lower-mileage, multi-drop collection intra-city operations on congested roads.” The new-eight-ton truck is expected to hit the roads by the third quarter of 2009.

Green vending machines by Pepsi

pepsi.jpg
It doesn’t matter that they make crates and crates of canned aerated drinks, soft drink giants like Coca Cola are always trying to gain a brownie point going green, we so often hear. Now come the second giant - Pepsi who has come up with a solution to reduce their environmental footprint and save bills. They are currently testing around 30 green vending machines in Washington. The ‘green’ machines use 5.08 kilowatt-hours of energy per day from an average of 6 kilowatt-hours used by current machines. These ‘green’ machines will also emit 12 per cent lesser greenhouse gas than others. It will use carbon dioxide instead of the usual hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) which ruin the environment to keep cool.

The new machines will cost more than the new ones, though. So it will be an investment as it will make you spend lesser on bills apparently. Maybe they will also change the blue on the logo to green and show much they actually care. Or maybe not, just a thought.

World’s second largest solar power plant in Florida

martinthermal.jpg
Every trend has a season and now it is the go-green season. As more companies are getting fully aware of the earth’s depleting ozone and the dangers of economical downfall, bigger companies are investing time and effort on developing the new found alternative source of energy. Ironically, the solar power. The Lauren Engineers and Constructors signed a contract with Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) as the engineering, procurement and construction contractor for a new 75 MW Concentrated Solar Power Plant located near Indiantown. When ready, it will be the second largest solar thermal power plant in the world and the largest solar thermal plant outside California and also the first hybrid solar facility in the world to connect to an existing combined-cycle power plant.

This project will be located on 500 acres of land and will use around 200,000 parabolic mirrors to capture the sun’s heat and will produce 155,000 MWh of power annually which is enough power for 11,000 homes or 26,000 people. The Martin Next Generation Solar Energy Center is ‘expected to reduce green house gas emissions by approximately 2.75 million tons over a thirty year period, which is the equivalent of removing more than 18,700 cars from the road annually for the next 30 years’.

British Richard Jenkin’s Greenbird wind-powered craft breaks record

greenbird.jpg
When one man in the United States broke all odds and raced against wind to set a record of 116mph in his Iron Duck Vehicle ten years ago, another fellow across the sea in UK stood interested. Now, he has accomplished his dream by racing his wind powered Greenbird and breaking Bob Schumacher’s speed reaching 126.1 mph in Ivanpah Lake, Nevada. British engineer Richard Jenkins’ Greenbird is a carbon fibre composite vehicle that uses wind (and nothing else) for power with the wing bearings and wheel unit in metal.

The Greenbird is described as a “very high performance sailboat” but one that uses a solid wing, rather than a sail, to generate movement. The craft weighs 600 kg and also has small wings helping the car stick to the ground and not fly off due to the lift on the wings. It took Richard ten years to finally achieve his goal and seeing him sustain the patience and hard-work so much, he deserves a pat on the back and some more.

States boast 60 per cent increase in renewable energy use in 2008

USenergy.jpg
The US may have messed up a bit of accounts and pulled the world into the quicksand but it also has a few things to be very proud of. The most important one is that about 60 percent of the new generating capacity added in the US last year revolves around new renewables including solar, wind, geothermal and other renewable energy devices. Travis Bradford who heads up the Prometheus Institute that conducts research noticed this achievement.

It seems in 2005 new renewables only accounted for about 15 percent of marginal capacity and went up to 30 per cent in 2006, growing higher to 45 per cent in 2007. so there is a steady growth in the use of renewable energy. And now with so many solar power plants erupting around the states, let us hope and pray hard that our glaciers and Greenland don’t melt away too soon.

Lamborbiker concept with the style of a Lamborghini in two wheels

lamboriker.jpg
Why do people want to mess with the standard designs of great cars and its wonderful features? Maybe because they are very disturbing in nature. Nonetheless, designer Flavio Adriani has created a concept called the Lamborbiker. Yeah, just as the name goes it is a bike in the form of a Lamborghini. He was inspired by Marcello Gandini, chief designer of Bertone and freelance designer since 1980 who designed the Osmos wheel and Lamborghini Countach.

It does look really sleek and stylish, but the concept looks more like a piece of art than a piece of transport. Only time will tell.
