The most recent addition to the Bentley’s Continental Line is the Continental Supersports incorporated with high performance into the line is something which could be called classy and cool at the same time. The traditional luxury interior of the Bentley Continental line is modified to a lighter and sportier interior. The car has a lightweight mechanism with the two backseats purged out making way for additional luggage and the normal Bentley seats have been replaced by carbon fiber sports seats which also attempt at weight saving. The W12 six liter engine produce about 621bhp, giving it a top speed of 329km/hr making it the fastest production Bentley ever.
It is also the first biofuel supercar that accepts either traditional gasoline or bio fuel or a mixture of the two. Redesigned air intakes and the exhaust system are the external changes while the carbon fiber and alcantara trim accord to the internal features. The Continental Supersports is rumored to be debuted at the Geneva Auto Show on the 4th of March.

Earlier this month we wrote about the $1.7 million Bentley Continental GTZ designed by famed Italian coachbuilder Zagato. Now they have designed a less expensive but hardly less attractive new supercar for South Africa’s Perana egineering, dubbed the Z-One (above). Slated to debut at next month’s Geneva Motor Show, only 999 examples of the stylish GT will be built at a price of about $115,000. The limited production is due to the fact that the body of each Perana Z-One will be handbuilt in Italy by Zagato and then shipped in pieces to South Africa to be attached to the vehicle’s chassis. Under the hood lies a 6.2L LS3 V8 engine sourced from General Motors’ Corvette. The engine will allow the Z-One to do 0 - 62 mph in less than four seconds and reach a top speed of close to 200 mph.

12-year-old Max Wallack stole the show at Design Squad’s “Trash to Treasure” contest with his “Home Dome.” The contest asked kids to repurpose trash into practical inventions. The dome provides shelter for the homeless and is made from plastic, wire and packing peanuts.

Pretty much, trash. The trash-plex looks like a Mongolian yurt, and let Max walk away with $10,000 and a Dell laptop. He also got a trip to Boston out of it. It was very noble of Max to say that he does not care about the money; all he wants to do is help people. He says that his invention helps improve the living conditions for homeless people, refugees and disaster victims all over the world. Well, this one invention I guess the governments world over should look into seriously.

The Sunseeker II is a hybrid plane that would need batteries to take off and climb, but then could maintain flight on solar power and could also be flown as a glider, with the prop stowed away. The battery pack is small and allows only 90 minutes of soaring on a full battery. Since the unused solar power is channeled into the batteries, climbing is again possible under power. With current generation of batteries, the Sunseeker II is never forced to land before late afternoon. Under direct solar power, the plane can fly at a speed of 40 miles an hour. After shutting down the motor, it takes hours to glide down and normally airbrakes have to be used to get down before dark.

The Sunseeker II solar plane will be flying over Europe this spring. The first phase would be from Germany to Sicily and then back to Switzerland. Then the plane would be flown from over the Swiss Alps to the Austrian Dolomites and then to Slovenia. From Slovenia the plane will take its flight through Italy, then Southern France to Spain. The exact dates and timings of the flight are still unknown. Wow! Just imagine, the whole Europe tour by only using solar power. It’s just amazing!

This post is on high geek alert! Action Comics issue #1 which is said to have launched Superman is going to be up for auction from today (Friday 27). It’s an extremely rare find and to own it would be very prestigious for any nerd/geek or just a comic lover! This is an ‘unrestored’ version. There are not more than a 100 known copies left of the original 1938 comic which sold for only 10-cents back then. However, to get an ‘unrestored ‘copy is almost next to impossible as over 80% of the 100 have been restored. This comic that the owner bought for a price of 35 cents is in excellent condition. Now hold your breath as it is expected to fetch a price of $400,000. It’s going to have to be one rich geek who purchases this.

The most expensive condominium ever sold is the Skyloft Penthouse in New York City’s Tribeca neighborhood. Downtown Manhattan certainly has a lot of wonders. This contemporary duplex loft is the idea of James Carpenter Design Associates. It has some stunning glass constructions and what makes it special is that it sits on top of a building dating from the 1920s. As if that’s not all, you have some pretty awesome views of the city that never sleeps from here. The interior has been taken care of by Roger Marvel Architects. They have used glass in the styling a lot. The area is about 700 square meters with four bedrooms and bathrooms. There is also a 420 sq m terrace which provides views of the Hudson river and World Financial Trade Centre.
