A dragon protected set of Imperial Stamp, fetches $1.3 million under the hammer

Imperial-Stamp-china.jpg
Stamp collecting can be an extremely opulent hobby, and when you get addicted to it, you will realize that it’s mighty competitive too! While China continues to grow in the stamp market along with many other things, Hong Kong made sure the frenzy was very much alive as auction house Phila China brought the hammer down on a set of 25 green horse-and-dragon stamps for a whopping $1.3 million! These were commissioned for Taiwan’s first postal service in the year 1886 by the Chinese Empress Dowager.
The record for the most expensive stamp to be auctioned to date, however, still lies with the 1855 Swedish stamp. This particular three-skilling stamp which was printed on yellow-orange stock instead of the correct green stock, earned a staggering the $2.3 million, way back in 1996.
